Here's the deal, I'm about the get a little "controversial" but I'm willing to take my chances.
I love everything about the 4th of July. I mean, I would eat brats and burgers every day of my life if I could. I mean, I like a lot of food so....maybe not...but the grill holds a special place in my heart. I love corn on the cob and jello in the shape of things, and strawberries and blueberries with cool whip. And lemonade and tea. i LOVE iced tea and Arnie Palmer's...get out of town...you're speakin' my love language.
I also love being with my people. i love lawn games and sparklers and fireworks and boat rides and kiddie pools and big pools and being outside. i love parades. and sunshine and flags flyin. it's just my favorite. I also like to get a little boozey, but i don't reserve that for just holidays.
Mostly, I love idea that people just get together to be together with no real agenda other than to hang out and hang fun and laugh....
And now, I realize there's nothing controversial about that but here it comes....
I come for a family where all the men have served in the Military. I support the troops. I think they are brave and selfless and I respect them a lot and am thankful even more. I don't support the "war" in the Middle East. I don't love how, as a country, we try to push around our money and power. I don't love that we are more passionate about infringing on the rights of women or same sex couples than we are about our education problem or our poverty problem. And we have a little bit of a rough history, but doesn't everyone? And I'd rather be part of the change than complain about it.
But i love this country and i am thankful to live here. I say the pledge, i put my hand over my heart when the National anthem plays.
and I think God love America and it's people as much as he loves everyone else.
I love baseball, "rock and roll" and country music. Apple pie, lemonade and going to church on Sundays.
So Happy Fourth. I love my country and my people.
